The first 10 butterfly Collages will be on sale Monday 11th December 2023 at 9 am!
Each butterfly is handmade from used food packaging, there are 10 forms of butterflies in total, this is the first form. For each form there are 10 unique examples, handmade with love by Luke Newton. Each piece is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. They are shipped in a protective plastic sleeve and rigid cardstock envelope. As the works are sold unframed they are fragile and should like a real butterfly be handled with care. For tips on framing please do not hesitate to ask!

Luke Newton is an artist from Colne, an industrial town in North of England. After studying art at Saint Martin's school in London, he left for France to pursue his artistic career. Today, he lives and works between Roubaix and Paris. As part of the exhibition A Consumer Product, Luke Newton pinpoints the failings of our society with a typically British humor. Grocery packages become skulls, the curve of a heart turns into a sharp blade, and colored pencils come together as guns. The extremes come together in a playful and offbeat way; the observer is drawn into a visual game where he can question the signs of his daily life at his leisure. ''To die ? Ok, but to whom? This provocation of Serge Gainsbourg reasons 30 years after his death, which occurred on March 2, 1991. About fifty artists pay tribute to this extraordinary icon of the 80s, as popular as he is provocative, who considered painting to be a major art. The "GAINSB'ART" project was born with the portraits of Serge Gainsbourg made by Roberto Battistini in 1985. Gainsbourg as Dalí, wide-eyed and mustache pointing to the sky, Gainsbourg wearing a beret, holding a baguette, Gainsbourg cigarette in hand behind a halo of smoke, or even Gainsbourg solarized. They are visual artists, sculptors, painters, street artists, designers and starred chefs, they have hijacked, transfigured, interpreted these famous photographs. An uninterrupted re-creation, started in 2011. In this year of commemoration, the David Pluskwa Art Contemporain gallery in Marseille is exhibiting around twenty unpublished works by the "Team Pluskwa" " Marc Dolisi - 2021"

Off The Shelf presents a lighthearted satirical assessment of what it is to live in a commercially and technologically driven society. Newton recalls Duchamp with his use of appropriation to unshackle factory made utilitarian wares into hand-made pieces of art. Taking these everyday items and ideas on which we depend, Newton re-makes them into sleek vibrant artworks, devoid of functionality. He disconnects these pieces from their intended roles, inflates their aesthetic value, and places them in a gallery context to be consumed and reflected upon.
